A Successful Athletic Program
A successful athletic program considers the athlete first...even above winning! A successful athletic program is one that allows the athletes to compete at their level of competence. Students will be held accountable for attendance and develop responsibility toward teamwork. Winning is not the only thing in a successful program; learning skills and developing character, leadership, dependability, social skills as well as developing psychologically and physiologically.
Eligibility Requirements
The student-athlete must maintain the following to be eligible for Interscholastic Athletics:
- Be in class all day, everyday. This is to practice or to play (unless for previously excused doctor's appointment).
- Maintain a 2.00 GPA (grade point average) at the end of the first and third quarters, and the end of the first and second semesters. You also must pass a minimum of 20 units.
- Be enrolled in at least 20 units of classes.
- Have not reached 19th birthday prior to September 1.
- Have a physical exam.
- Sign and adhere to the Drug and Alcohol Contract.
- Have an insurance policy on file (injury-medical).
Lettering Policy
Athletes earn their block GH in two ways:
- By participating on a varsity team and finishing the year in good standing.
- By earning 40 points for participation on lower level teams. By finishing the season in good standing, athletes will earn 10 points toward a letter.
Start of Sport Seasons
- Fall Sports : (Football; Volleyball; Girls Tennis; Boys and Girls Water Polo & Cross Country) Begin the third Monday of August.
- Winter Sports : (Girls and Boys Soccer; Wrestling; & Girls and Boys Basketball) Begin the second Monday in November.
- Spring Sports : (Baseball; Girls and Boys Track; Boys Tennis; Girls and Boys Swimming; Golf & Softball) Begin the second Monday in February.
