After revising your homework I will answer questions about the homework. There will then be a presentation, or lecture, or lab, or a combination of these with respect to the new material. For the most part, students will have time in class to start the new assignment and work with other people. Quizzes from
Homework Assignments (20%) Homework is normally assigned at each class meeting and should be completed before the next class meeting. Students are given an opportunity to check their homework and ask questions about homework problems during each class period. Late work is only allowed with teacher approval. Every Thursday there will be a quiz. The quiz will consist of 10 problems from the previous homework assignments. Each problem is worth 2 points for a total of 20 points. Homework assignments are not collected. Grade points are earned from the weekly quizzes and occasional content quizzes.
Tests (65%) Tests are generally given at least every two weeks. Review problems are given in the class meeting before the test. Students may earn partial credit on test problems. Tests account for 65% of the students' final grade. If a student misses a test he/she is expected to make up the test within a reasonable time period with respect to the number of days absent. Final Exam (15%) A final exam will be given at the end of each semester. The final exam is 15% of the students final grade. Notebook The math section of your binder should be divided into the following sections: Notes (may be used on tests) Homework for the unit Tests Only notes may be used on tests. Calculators It is recommended
that each student have his/her own graphing calculator.
There will be calculators available for classroom use only.
These may not be checked out to students.
The TI 83+ graphing calculator is strongly recommended for students
taking Algebra 2 and up. No Food or Drinks Absolutely no food
or candy is allowed to be eaten in class or left on your desktop.
Only water or closed bottles are allowed.
Lunch detention for noncompliance. Tardies Students are to be
sitting in their desk when the bell rings.
Pencils will have already been sharpened and any other tasks needed to
prepare for class are completed. Lunch
